White Ribbon Day

White Ribbons Day is held on 25th of November each year and is also known as the International Day for the Eradication of Violence against Women and girls. It is a day to raise awareness and highlight the ongoing violence, abuse, fear and harassment that women and girls face everyday across the world. It also marks the start of The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. This is an annual international campaign that begins on the 25th of November and runs until the 10th of December which is Human Rights Day. It was started by activists at the inaugural Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991 and continues to be coordinated each year by the Centre for Women’s Global Leadership. It calls for organisations across the world to work together for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls. The global theme for 2020 is "Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!".
