Can you foster a dog?

Dogs Trust’s Freedom Project is a dog fostering service for people who are fleeing domestic abuse in in London & the Home Counties, Yorkshire & the North East of England and Mainland Scotland. People fleeing domestic abuse are usually unable to take their dogs with them into a refuge so in many cases they are reluctant to leave their home until they know there is somewhere safe for their pets. Dogs Trust offers a solution by placing dogs into the homes of volunteer foster carers for up to 6 months, until their owners are rehoused and can take them back. Dogs Trust covers all of the dog’s expenses during that time, including food and veterinary costs.
