We'd like to extend a huge thank you to members of the Soroptimist International from Tynedale, and friends from the Weardale group for making us dozens of fantastic hand-knitted Worry Eaters. These funny little creatures are a really important tool that our Children's Workers and counsellors use with children and young people during therapy and play work sessions.
These little friends give children the opportunity to express their concerns, worries and anxieties and can mark a step in finding solutions for children or young people experiencing problems. Worries are written down and put into their mouth and eaten - a way for children to banish anxieties from young minds, and a great way for parents or workers to find out what is troubling them. The parents we work with can keep these Worry Eaters to use with their children whenever there are problems or concerns, and they become a knitted googley-eyed symbol for 'eating worries' and taking away problems.
The members of the Soroptimists from Tynedale, and friends from Weardale have always been a fantastic support to us over the years, and particularly at times such as this, when our organisation is facing an uncertain future, we so appreciate support from our local community!
Thank you ladies!
