As Domestic Abuse Awareness Week comes to a close this weekend, a group of young people have been working with NDAS, Victims First Northumbria and Northumberland County Council (NCC) Participation teams as part of Takeover Day. This is an opportunity for young people to work closely with the County Council to share ideas about important topics and issues affecting young people across the region. Young people can gain an insight into working life, whilst also providing valuable insight and a fresh perspective through sharing views and experiences.
In previous years Takeover Days, pupils from local high schools worked with Northumberland Adolescent Services to discuss mental health and emotional, anxiety and stress issues. This year, Takeover Day looked a bit different - with a 'Jezza Kyle' style quiz session where students alongside staff from Victims First Northumbria and NCC could discuss ideas about how to support young people to learn about healthy relationships, coercive control in relationships, and recognising the signs of unhealthy behaviours. Have a look here at some of the resources from the day, and check out some of our fave pictures and highlights below - it was such a lively and interactive day.
